On we go...
The Ritz Carlton downtown LA is a magnificent property and as the name indicates, it comes with all the bells and whistles. Living in that specific lap of luxury is only enhanced by having LA Live and the Staples Center right in your own back yard along with 14 movie theaters. The residences are not quite complete but the tour was a great indicator of things to come. The residences start somewhere around the 30th floor so you can only imagine the views. Again, I am surprised at my own ignorance of how far along downtown has become since the time when no one would be caught dead there after dark!!!! As the weekend is upon us should you find you way downtown searching for a cocktail make your first stop Spring Street. On just one block you will find three different types of bars to satisfy everyones taste. The first place we visited was The Exchange. Here's a little history on this building. Ground was broken on October 21, 1929 just 3 days before Black Thursday. Designed by architect Samuel E. Lunden, the building was opened in January 1931. The Los Angeles Stock Exchange merged with the Pacific Stock Exchange in 1956 and trading took place until 1986. Since that time, the building has remained largely unoccupied. TODAY, it's a party! To be continued...
